Scholarship opportunities at TUIASI
If you are an international student interested in studying at „Gheorghe Asachi” TUIASI, we are happy to inform you that there are several scholarship opportunities awarded based on many different factors: merit-based, need-based, for extracurricular university activities or for other situations according to Romanian Higher Education Law and according to our own University’s Regulations and Procedures.
Students from EU Countries
I.1. Annual Scholarships for students applying for full-time Bachelor’s or Master’s Programmes
- Scholarship for International Olympic Excellence;
- Scholarship for academic performance for students with outstanding academic records;
- Scholarship for scientific, innovation performance and patents;
- Scholarship for sports performance, with an amount established by the University Senate;
- Social scholarship for students from disadvantaged categories, such as students that come from families with low-income, students that have a serious disease listed in the Romanian Higher Education Law and Regulations, students that are orphans or from single-parent families;
- Occasional social scholarships for clothes and shoes/maternity/in case of death of a first degree relative;
- Scholarship for a temporary training mobility in other institutions from Romania or abroad;
- Special scholarship for extracurricular activities, such as involvement in student projects, university special activities (OpenDays, Green events, SAS events, University Board, Campus Board, campus activities, professional student competitions/contests, University promotion caravans, University Canteen activity, University computerization maintenance etc.)
- Special scholarship for cultural-artistic performances in student contests;
- Other Special scholarships established in the University’s Procedures and approved by the University Senate.
I.2. Scholarships for students applying for a full-time Doctoral Programme
According to Romanian Higher Education Law, scholarships for Doctoral Degrees are awarded for programmes that have a length of 4 years of study. They are based on a number of available spots financed by the Ministry of Education and are awarded annually to the University.
Students from Non-EU Countries
If you are a student from a Non-EU Country applying for a full-time Bachelor’s, Master’s or Doctoral Programme at TUIASI, then you can benefit from a fully funded Scholarship awarded by the Romanian Government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

It's a merit-based Scholarship
To be eligible, the applicants must have a minimum average grade of 7 (according to the scoring system in Romania) or the score “Good” for the entire study period from their previously graduated school.
Language Requirements
Applicants can select their preferred study programme of interest from all fields of study available at TUIASI. But for Bachelor’s and Master’s, only Romanian language-taught study programmes are eligible. However, at PhD level, applicants can also opt for a programme in English or a foreign language set by the Doctoral School.
A preparatory year in Romanian is also granted prior to enrolling in the study programme of choice, for those not speaking the Romanian language.
What is included in the Scholarship
The scholarship consists of:
- expenses for the tuition fee;
- expenses for the accommodation in dormitories;
- tuition expenses for the Romanian language preparatory year;
- expenses covered for medical assistance in case of medical emergencies;
- expenses for local transport and railway transport on Romanian territory in the same conditions as those offered to Romanian students, according to the legal provision.
- granting a monthly financial aid.
Expenses not covered by the scholarship:
- international transport.
The monthly amount of the financial aid depends on the category of the non-EU student and it is regulated through specific legal provisions:
- 900 lei for Romanian ethnic students from non-EU countries for undergraduate, master’s or doctoral programmes*;
- 65 Euro for other non-EU students enrolled in undergraduate studies;
- 75 Euro for other non-EU students enrolled in master’s programme;
- 85 Euro for other non-EU students enrolled in doctoral programme.
*This category of students is also eligible for Scholarship for academic performance for students with outstanding academic records or for special scholarship, as it is defined in the Order of the Ministry of Education nr.6463/2023, completed by the Government Emergency Ordinance nr.95/2024.
How to apply
The scholarship application can be sent ONLY through the Study in Romania government platform.
Candidates can access more information via the Apply for MFA scholarships button, or directly at https://scholarships.studyinromania.gov.ro.
Applications can be submitted between 15 December and 1 March of the following year, with the selection results being announced on 15 July. Upon selection, additional formalities, such as obtaining a visa, will be required.
