INGENIUM Sustainability Week at TUIasi: Every Step Counts Towards a Sustainable Future – A Common Success

The Technical University of Iași (TUIasi) successfully hosted the INGENIUM Sustainability Week, an event that brought together students, professors, and experts to promote concrete actions towards achieving the sustainable development goals that Europe has committed to. Organized under the slogan “Every Step Counts Towards a Sustainable Future,” the event demonstrated that small contributions from each individual can significantly impact sustainability.

Interactive activities and active participation

The week started with a series of webinars led by INGENIUM alliance partners from Munster Technological University, Ireland, and the University of Skövde, Sweden, which addressed topics related to sustainability and bio-economy. Students and professors had the opportunity to discuss transforming public policies into concrete actions during a webinar on intergenerational advocacy and to learn how to better balance student life with personal commitments.

Throughout the week, participants explored innovative concepts in the field of circular bio-economy through a webinar that connected experts and students from the INGENIUM network.

S.l. dr. ing Ioana Olteanu, from the Technical University of Iași, led the “Sustainability – Truth and Challenge” workshop, encouraging participants to discuss the challenges we face in implementing sustainable solutions and to discover myths and realities surrounding this concept. This interactive workshop also helped participants discover the 12 competencies necessary for a sustainable future, offering useful self-assessment tools and personal development.

Best Practices: ADR Nord-Est and Sustainable Urban Mobility

A highlight of the week was the presentation of the North-East Regional Development Agency, an associated partner of INGENIUM, which showcased a best practice example of sustainable mobility through the Appimotion app. During the dedicated seminar, the crucial role that public institutions and local actors play in promoting ecological behaviours and reducing carbon footprints was emphasized.

Tudor’s Orchard

The week ended with a fun and energetic outdoor activity titled “Tudor’s Orchard”. Over 70 students and professors gathered in the Tudor Vladimirescu student campus to clean up the campus and plant fruit trees that will contribute to sustainability not only by reducing the carbon footprint but also, in a few years, by providing a sustainable food source for “Tudor’s Pantry”. The atmosphere was full of enthusiasm and involvement, and those who stayed until the end were rewarded with INGENIUM little badges as a sign of appreciation for their dedication.
