Innovation Week TUIASI – Research Meets Business

Innovation Week took place at the Gheorghe Asachi Technical University of Iași (TUIASI) between June 2–10, 2025, gathering students, academic staff, researchers, and innovation experts in a week full of creativity, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer.

This flagship event was organized also as part of the FDI Internationalization ProjectSinergii pentru Internaționalizarea Sustenabilă a TUIASI la nivel European și Mondial (SISTEM) and aimed to strengthen the link between academic research and the business ecosystem, while also supporting technological innovation and startup development.

Highlights of Innovation Week 2025

Three Innovation-Focused Workshops

Led by Mark Wilson, international innovation mentor and founder of Neworks.biz, the event featured three dynamic and interactive workshops:

1. Project Coach Workshop (PCW)

Target Audience: TUIASI Students (Bachelor, Master, PhD)
Key Focus: Innovation tools, problem-solving in the academic environment, teamwork and mentorship
Students explored product and service development techniques, addressing real-life challenges on campus, supported by expert mentoring.

2. Pre-Seed Workshop (PSW)

Target Audience: TUIASI Researchers
Key Focus: Evaluating research ideas for startup potential
Held on June 2, 3 and 9, this workshop included topics like 3D magnetic zippers, digital museums, and platforms for tech collaboration, guiding researchers in transforming ideas into viable entrepreneurial projects.

3. Technology Scouting Workshop (TSW)

Target Audience: TUIASI Researchers
Key Focus: Research commercialization, technology transfer strategy
This workshop focused on identifying research with commercial potential and continued throughout June via online sessions, resulting in actionable plans for valorization.

 Objectives and Impact

  • Promote technological innovation and entrepreneurial thinking

  • Stimulate interdisciplinary collaboration within the university and with industry

  • Encourage research valorization and practical application of scientific results

  • Connect students and researchers with international mentors and innovation ecosystems

Results and Participation

The event saw strong engagement from the TUIASI community, with high participation and innovative project proposals. A notable outcome was the increased interest in transforming academic research into real-world solutions, while strengthening the collaboration between universities and the private sector.
